Meet the maker: The Artisan

Who is The Artisan?

The Artisan is our founder and owner, Jovan Geldenhuys. Qualified as an architect who was looking to trade in the desk job and challenge his creative side.

What was the idea behind your brand?

The Artisan started because we realised we couldn't, at that stage, find affordable lighting by local designers. We wanted to cater to that specific market and started designing and prototyping.

How many people work for you?

We are a small team of 3 permanent staff and 2 casuals who help out during busier months.

What are your best sellers? 

The lamps with Kiaat wood bases, generally. On Knus, the customers love the marble.

What is YOUR favourite product of your collection? Dome floorlamp

What to you is the best thing about selling on Knus? 

We can see that a lot of time and energy goes into marketing as well as upgrading the site and the way we as sellers manage orders.  It's an ever evolving site and we get more sales on Knus than anywhere else we sell from.

How would you say it has impacted your business selling through KNUS?

Very positively. We get a nice constant flow of orders which is great!

Why would you say it is important for customers to support local? 

Our economy desperately needs it, the more we support local, the more jobs can be created, and we have amazing talent in this country!
