Our go-to gallery wall guide!

The easiest way to give a room a whole new look: new art. Creating a gallery wall of mix-matched illustrations, botanical prints, maps and  photographs is a perfect way to give your room a refresh – it’s simple, but effective. To help you get it right, we’ve got a few tips:

  1. First and foremost, decide on how you are going to tie your gallery wall together. Choose a single element that will ensure that your gallery wall has a common thread thoughout. Perhaps you’re running with a particular colour scheme, or maybe you want all your frames to match and instead incorporate entirely different colours? Your choice, but a tiny bit of consistency can really tie all your pieces together.
  1. Use a combination of different styles of art to enhance the playful gallery look. Experiment to find your perfect mix-match.  Maybe you want to incorporate photographydigital illustrations as well as a few abstract prints – we think that’s a great idea! You’ll create a unique, curated feel, that reflects your style.
  1. Once you’ve decided on your consistent thread (see point 1 above), don’t be afraid to experiment! If you’ve gone with a specific colour palette, try mixing up the frame size & colours. If you’ve decided to go for all the same frames, most definitely play with different styles of art
  1. Before you hammer your nails into the wall, decide on a specific shape that you are wanting your gallery wall to take on. Consider what will be the best fit in the space you are wanting to update. Are you wanting a structured grid-like format, or something more informal or staggered? Our top tip is to cut pieces of newspaper to the exact size of your frames, and stick them to the wall first to see what shape the gallery wall will take on before you start hanging.
